The Louisiana Tech University Office of Purchasing is now accepting Sealed Bid solicitations for the Purchase of a Concrete
3D Printer and Auger for the College of Engineering and Science. This solicitation seeks bids for the purchase of a 3DPotter
SCARA V4 3D Printer with an Auger HP24 Extruder or equivalent.
The requested 3D concrete printing system is a robotic arm-based, rotary 3D printer designed for printing cementitious
materials, including concrete, highly viscous and packed concrete such as ultra-high-performance concrete, fiber-
reinforced mortars, and clay-based mixtures. The system shall be capable of printing full-scale elements such as beams,
walls, and architectural or structural components. The requested printer and auger shall meet the following minimum
specifications:
Power and Electrical Requirements:
110-220 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 4A.
Standard single-phase operation suitable for laboratory use.
Control and Software:
Full control through web interface. Machine control shall require no software installation.
Real-time printing monitoring and control: The system shall provide real-time monitoring of print progress, layer
timing, and estimated time remaining, and shall allow real-time adjustment of extrusion and movement
parameters through the control interface.
Compatible with standard CAD modeling software (e.g., Fusion 360, SolidWorks).
Compatible with standard slicing software such as Simplify3D or Cura.
Connectivity: The printer should be fully controllable via Wi-Fi or local network connection. The printer shall be
Wi-Fi enabled, capable of broadcasting its own network or connecting to an existing local network.
Printing Capability
360-degree robotic arm with a unique circular print envelope.
Capable of printing multiple objects sequentially within the envelope
Adjustable printing speed: 30–100 mm/s (1.2–3.9 in/s).
Printing with clay and a wide range of cementitious materials
Ability to print high-viscosity, high-packing-density cementitious materials such as ultra high performance
concrete, as well as fiber-reinforced concrete.
Compatible with aggregates < 3-4 mm
Direct-extrusion system, no air compressor required.
Suitable for printing walls/beams approximately 1 ft deep and up to ~5 ft long, and any configurations fitting
within printing envelope
Mechanical Design and Construction
Heavy-duty industrial construction, primarily CNC-machined cast aluminum components.
Printer weight: approximately 85 lb (transportable by two people).
Mounting: floor or tabletop mounting using bolts/anchors for stability.
Hybrid closed-loop stepper motors with computers with telemetry for position correction.
Harmonic drive units for high-precision motion (fraction-of-degree accuracy).
Low-noise operation suitable for indoor laboratory environments.
Required space

The printer requires approximately 6-12 in of clearance beyond the nominal print area. The required space will
vary based on the size of the model being printed. The printer will be installed in a dedicated space sized for
partial or full use of the print envelope. Print area is shown in gray in Figure 1.

Auger/ Extrusion System
The printer shall be compatible with various pumps/extruders.
The requested auger (Auger HP) is constructed of aluminum/composite material compatible with cementitious
mixtures not reactive with aluminum or ABS plastic.
Auger volume (Auger HP): 3.54 L; must allow continuous refill without print interruption.
Auger size and weight: ~14 in diameter, ~28 in height, weight ≈ 12 lb (5.4 kg), Attachment sleeve outside
diameter ≈ 3.54 in, height ≈ 5 in.
Includes three interchangeable nozzles: 1 in, ¾ in, and ⅝ in diameters.
Auger may be manually fed or connected directly to a pump.
Designed for quick disassembly and cleaning suitable for lab use.
Accessories and Deliverables
All tools required for assembly and maintenance shall be included.
Printed and video (or online) assembly instructions shall be provided.
One-year minimum warranty against manufacturing defects.
Shipping to the destination shall be included in vendor’s quote.
Transportation and installation must require no special utilities or site modifications beyond standard supply.

Vendors shall include the cost of shipping, delivery, or freight as a part of the per unit cost. Vendors shall not include
shipping as a separate line item on this bid, nor shall the awarded vendor include shipping, delivery, or freight on any
invoice to the University.
The purchase of this item shall also include access to any software necessary to allow users to operate and monitor the
device while in operation. Vendors shall also include initial user training / setup as part of their per unit pricing. The
awarded vendor shall not include user training as a separate line item on this bid, nor shall the awarded vendor include
training on any invoice to the University.
If bidding other than the requested make and model listed on page 5 of this solicitation, the vendor shall include sufficient
product documentation / product details to determine equivalence. Failure to provide this product documentation /
product details will cause the vendor’s bid to be deemed as non-responsive.
Vendors shall complete all pages of this Invitation to Bid, including the printed name and signature of the person
submitting the quotation and pricing on the Schedule of Items page. Bid received without this information shall be
deemed as non-responsive. Vendors are encouraged to include their own quote for an explanation of your proposed
system, BUT this vendor quote shall not be a substitute for this completed Invitation to Bid Form.
