Project Description: The Freeway Service Patrol (FSP) program seeks to procure an Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) System that will be able to log driver activities, track driver and truck locations, contain functionality for administrative tasks and integrate with the CHP’s Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. In terms of the physical system, we envision FSP Contractor purchased tablets in the tow trucks that run an App-Based software and communicate out via a stand-alone modem with GPS devices. In the majority of cases, the tow trucks are self-dispatched, but the FSP Drivers must have data communication with the CHP Dispatchers, thus this project includes working with CHP and their Consultant to ensure that there is two-way communication for a limited amount of data. The selected Contractor shall develop and replace the existing in-vehicle hardware and server/end-user applications and may develop other key program management software applications. The detailed description of MTC SAFE’s requirements and the schedule to develop and test the system can be found in the RFP Scope of Work section.
