Description

Develop a monolayer for Numismatic Multiple Alloys

The initial phase of testing will determine if and how much the burnishing recipe used at San Francisco must be modified. Additionally, the initial phase of testing will determine how much of the anti-tarnish chemical should be applied. Lastly, a stamping trial will be incorporated in order to determine if any adverse effects are seen when stamping the blanks.

Simultaneously a safety/environmental review must be performed by the San Francisco Mint with California regulatory bodies as external stakeholders. Any concerns should be addressed in order to meet regulations and ensure the health and safety of the workforce.

Onsite testing and validation should occur at the San Francisco Mint as the final phase. This would include processing blanks according to the recommended recipe, testing the blanks at a 3rd party lab for corrosion inhibition (at the expense of the US Mint), stamping treated blanks to ensure the coining process and finally packaging the coins and performing an accelerated shelf-life test to ensure corrosion and tarnishing inhibition for final goods (at the expense of the US Mint).
