Description

Contract award for (Endoscopic) Instrument Air Installation, Support, and Replacement Services was made to HMS Incorporated, UEI: CW7KCZ72CHB3 under the following authority/conditions: FAR 6.302-2 (Unusual and compelling urgency). Instrument air is a necessity for the execution of endoscopic procedures at the facility. Due to unforeseen circumstances only 2 of 3 endoscopic instrument air supply lines/units were currently in operation which led to a diminished capacity of instrument air that was available to support needed endoscopic procedures. These conditions were negatively impacting veteran patient care for the following reasons:

-Endoscopic treatment delivery had been reduced by approximately 1/3. (Endoscopic procedures performed weekly at the facility had been reduced from 50 to 33).

-Three (3) functioning/operating instrument air lines/units are needed to enable full treatment delivery at the facility (i.e., 50 endoscopic procedures per week instead of 33 that were currently being performed due to diminished capacities). Execution of these services was needed immediately.
