Description
ANNUAL ASPHALT PAVEMENT CRACK SEALING – One year contract for 2025.
MATERIALS
a) The Contractor shall supply all materials and equipment necessary for the Work including the crack sealant.
b) The Contractor shall supply and apply air blown sealing (Part V Specifications) hot pour rubberized crack sealant in accordance with Alberta Transportation specification.
c) The Contractor shall verify that all crack sealant delivered and used in the Work is the type and grade ordered.
d) The Municipal District may obtain samples of material from time to time. The successful company shall allow the Municipal District to obtain samples either at the storage or application stage for testing purposes. In the opinion of the Chief Administrative Officer, should any material tested by the Municipal District fail to be satisfactory, no further work will be permitted until suitable material is obtained, and the Contractor shall have no claim on that account.
3. WORK INCLUDED
a) The Work consists of filling cracks in the paved surfaces in the areas designated by the Chief Administrative Officer. All cracks wider than 5 mm and less than 25 mm in width are to be crack sealing for the entire width of the paved roadway. The entire width includes any climbing lanes, roadside turnouts, acceleration/deceleration lanes, and intersectional flares for the edge of right-of-way.
b) Prior to the application of crack sealant, the Contractor shall ensure that the road surface adjacent to the cracks is clean.
c) Excess crack sealant shall be removed from the pavement surface immediately following application. Removal shall involve the use of a squeegee, starting from the centerline and proceeding to the shoulder.
d) Fuel, asphalt and any other spills shall be cleaned up to the satisfaction of the Chief Administrative Officer at the Contractor’s expense.
e) The Contractor shall meet with the Chief Administrative Officer, or his Designate, prior to the commencement of operations, to review and agree upon the proposed work plan and schedule. This will be done to ensure that critical portions of the work are completed on schedule and to reduce areas of conflict with traffic and other work projects.
f) The proposed work plan will include a traffic accommodation plan and an environmental site plan.
g) A pre-start up meeting is required to address safety items required from the successful company.
