Description
The Strathcona Regional District is requesting submission of Proposals from qualified vendors for the supply and installation of the following flood mitigation infrastructure at Kw’as Regional Park (Appendix A):1 culvert exclusion fence. 3 pond levelers.
The implementation of this project will result in conservation of wetland habitat and riparian area of approximately 2.1 hectares, and a reduction in erosion and sedimentation leading to positive water quality and fish habitat impacts in Hague Lake. The full extent of the project, including required permits, is provided in Appendix B. The intention is for the infrastructure to require minimal maintenance which would be included as part of existing routine maintenance activities in Kw’as Park and Ministry of Transportation and Transit (MoTT) right-of-way. No beavers are to be trapped, re-located, or killed, and no beaver dams are to be removed as part of this project. Engagement with the Klahoose First Nation Guardians is mandatory throughout this process.
