Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) partnering with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) intend to enter up to a 2-year/24-month agreement with Wildlife Insights. The web-based platform will be used by the Division of Fish and Wildlife to upload and process images from up to 150 cameras regarding their wildlife research project.
Wildlife Insights is a cloud-based platform that uses artificial intelligence to analyze images and data from camera traps, streamlining the process of wildlife monitoring and conservation. It allows researchers and conservationists to upload, manage, analyze, and share camera trap data, significantly reducing the time and effort required for manual entry. The platform also provides tools for species identification, data visualization, and collaboration, fostering a global community for wildlife conservation .
Wildlife Insights is the sole proprietor of its software, only available through Friends of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences who is their exclusive vendor and has implemented implements rigorous security and backup practices to protect data against unauthorized access and system failure. The State believes this is a sole source purchase and has deemed it as such.
