The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, hereby announces the solicitation for “Gavins Point Intake Crane Replacement”. The solicitation will close on 07 July 2025. The solicitation is Unrestricted and Open to Both Large and Small Business Participation.
Site Visit:
A Site Visit is scheduled and additional information regarding the site visit is provided in the solicitation in Section 00 21 00. The site visit is scheduled for 17 June 2025.
Project Description:
This project will replace the 80-ton Gavins Point Intake Gantry Crane with a new 80-ton intake gantry crane. In addition to the replacement of the crane the power conductors with grounded buss will be replaced, the 480-volt supply breaker and evaluation of the existing power supply system. Also, this project will involve rehabbing or replacing the current rail system under a separate contract (GP00103). The total length of the rails is 328' x 2 centerline of rail to the powerhouse wall. The new crane and power supply shall be reliable, maintainable, and meet current applicable operational and safety codes and standards. The new crane will retain the hoisting functions of the existing crane. It will operate the intake bulkhead gate slots, handle the intake service and bulkhead gates, including transporting by trolley or gantry travel and handle and transport intake service gate hoist using the main hoist. The auxiliary hoist will handle and transport by trolley or gantry travel the trash rack sections, intake service gate hoist covers, hatch covers, and gate slot covers. The jib hoist will handle loads between the intake deck and forebay, handle and transport loads on the intake deck and debris removal and disposal from the forebay.
The Contractor will be required to commence work upon receipt of contract award and complete the work 920 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed, this is subject to change after solicitation issuance.

The estimated construction cost of this project is between $10,000,000 and $25,000,000.
