For the last 60 years, Moore Air Base in Edinburg, Texas, was utilized for sterile insect dispersion. This small air base supports an average of ten daily flights for two to three aircraft. These smaller aircraft use a low lead-grade of aviation fuel. With the announcement of the new production facilities and the impending modernization of the current MexFly fleet, new fuel will be required. This means that new fuel tanks will be needed. The two fuel tanks which will be used for Jet A fuel storage to support flight operations for upcoming contracted aircraft for New World Screwworm sterile fly dispersal as well as future aircraft to be purchased for MexFly dispersal. Please see attached notice below.
