PROJECT BACKGROUND: Crescent Falls Provincial Recreation Area (PRA) underwent infrastructure refurbishment over the course of 2022 to 2024. After these upgrades were completed and the site opened to the public in the summer of 2024, (Central Region) Parks Division identified a need for additional site enhancements based on public use. Operations has requested the addition of a guardrail barrier to one section of the viewing structure to mitigate public access concerns as well as the replacement of the existing maintenance access hatch with a lighter-weight alternative.
PROJECT OBJECTIVE: The work aims to enhance public safety by modifying the existing viewpoint structure.
1. All work shall be in accordance with all local and provincial codes and regulations. All work shall be performed by qualified trades workers, tested and under warranty for a period of one (1) year from acceptance date of work.
2. The Contractor shall provide all labour, materials, tools, equipment and services including the transportation necessary to complete the work. The intent is that the Contractor provides a complete job. Demolition and disposal costs are to be included in the Contractor’s quote. Site is to be clear of all debris upon completion of demolition work.
3. The Contractor shall be responsible for all damages to the structure or site as a result of this work, activities of this work and activities of their employees and/or subcontractors or their negligent security arrangements. Damages shall be repaired to pre-construction conditions or better at Contractor’s own expense.
4. All shop drawings and materials shall be as specified and formally approved by the project's structural engineer and Alberta Parks before Contractor commences work. The costs of any changes affecting other disciplines, including approved alternatives, shall be included in the bid.
