University of Alberta

The University of Alberta is inviting Responses from experienced Architecture/Engineering Consultancy’s as the Prime and Coordinating Consultant for Pre-Qualified CFI Design Consultants. The University intends to select up to five (5) Respondents arising out of this RFPQ for placement on a Pre-Qualified List (PQL) for CFI Design services subject to meeting minimum requirements stated in Attachment 1: Evaluation Criteria & Pre-Award noted in the RFP.

CFI is a federal agency that funds innovative research. This funding focuses on the purchase of scientific equipment and supporting the renovations that are required in research space for this equipment. The University expects formal calls from CFI on a regular basis - the major of the calls relating to:

John Evans Leaders Fund (JELF) - Occurs three times a year in February, June, and October; and
Innovation Fund (IF) - Occurs once every three years and is expected to next occur in 2026; and
Other Government Grants - The Provincial and Federal Government may issue other grants or funds that could require pre-concept design services.

It will be the responsibility of the successful Respondent(s) to work with the Operations team and the researchers to create conceptual-level plans that can be used to construct a Class-D estimate. The Class-D estimate will be completed by the Operations internal estimator. See RFP for further details.
