Background

Old Jesup Road is a minor arterial roadway in Brunswick, GA which serves over 10,000 vehicles per day. The right-of-way width varies but is generally 50-feet wide for much of the corridor. Existing roadside ditches create steep slopes and drop-off hazards adjacent to the travel lanes. Likewise, the existing pavement edges are experiencing deterioration creating hazardous shoulder drop-offs throughout the corridor. These hazards, combined with major utilities and corresponding infrastructure, create potential roadside safety issues. Additionally, there are no bicycle or pedestrian facilities along Old Jesup Road from Scranton Road to Glynndale Drive. Bicyclists and pedestrians can often be observed utilizing vehicle travel lanes inappropriately for travel as the usable shoulder width is negligible in many areas.

This project will address those issues along Old Jesup Rd between Scranton and Walker Roads
