Description
This Sources Sought Notice is for informational and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation or commitment by the Government. This notice is intended strictly for market research. The purpose of this Sources Sought notice is to obtain information from qualified sources with special interest relative to the North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) 339112, Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing.

The Government will not pay for information received in response to this Sources Sought, nor will the Government compensate any respondent for any cost incurred in developing the information provided. This Sources Sought does not constitute a commitment by the Government. Information provided in response to this market survey will be used for informational purposes only and will not be released. Contractor participation is not a promise of future business with the Government.

Requirement
The Tomah VA Medical Center, Patient Care Services located at 500 E. Veterans Street, Tomah, WI 54660-3105 has a requirement for mobile hospital grade shower commode chairs. New chairs will replace aging polyvinyl chloride (PVC) shower/hygiene chairs currently used in the inpatient units and community living center. Replacement chairs must meet salient characteristics listed below.

Salient Characteristics

Stainless steal frame with powder coating
The foam padding on the seat, backrest and armrests. Should be of closed cell foam.
Expected lifetime of 7-10 years based on how often it is used
Minimum 2-year warranty
Fit over standard height toilets
Can be used as bedside commode with the use of a insert (bedpan or a disposable alternative)
Arm rests will flip away and stay up by themselves.
Footrests will fold out of the way to make a clear path for a patient to transfer to the chair and stay up by themselves.
Double locking brakes set/released by tapping a lever with foot

Standard Size
weight capacity of at least 400 pounds
seat height of at least 20.5 inches
seat depth of at least 17 inches
overall width (including wheels and push handles) not to exceed 26 inches
4 wheels of at least 4 inches
4 wheels will swivel for a small turning radius and have

X-large Size
weight capacity of at least 500 pounds
seat height of at least 20.5 inches
seat depth of at least 18.5 inches
overall width (including wheels and push handles) not to exceed 27.5 inches
4 wheels at least 4 inches
Seat pan can be completely removed for easier cleaning
directional wheel to make pushing the patient easier
Interested contractors should provide the following information in response to this Sources Sought.

1. Company name, address, point of contact and email address

2. Include descriptive literature such as illustrations, brochures, catalogs, booklets, etc.

3. List the manufacturer and country of origin for each product
