Overview
Summary

The project shall consist of the abatement of asbestos in the City Park Bath House building at 330 City Park Drive in anticipation of use of the building. The tile flooring in the tournament room and in the storage room were found to have asbestos containing materials and must be abated prior to reuse or occupancy of the building.

Background

The bath house facility in City Park was built during the WPA era and has served various functions over the decades. Recent discussions regarding its preservation versus demolition culminated in the City Council’s decision not to proceed with replacing the building. During previous discussions to demolish the structure for a new tennis facility, full asbestos testing was completed by All-Phase Environmental, Inc. In order to reuse the structure once a full assessment is completed, the building must be abated prior to occupancy due to air-born asbestos containing materials being present.
