Per below Specifications and Instructions to Bidders, vendors are to supply all labor and materials to complete the
New Burglar Alarm Installation with all new wiring and devices at two (2) schools.
The pre-bid meeting will begin at Brown Summit Middle School, 4720 North Carolina Hwy 150, Brown Summit, NC
27214, and will continue at Rankin Elementary School, 1501 Spry Street, Greensboro, NC 27405.

The Guilford County BOE Reserves the right to reject any or all bids presented and to waive any informalities and
irregularities. Guilford County Schools reserves the right to award this project in part or in whole, whichever is
deemed to be in the best interest of the district. The award is contingent upon availability of funds.
Minority businesses are encouraged to submit proposals for this project. The Board of Education awards public
contracts without regard to race, religion, color, creed, national origin, sex, age or handicapped condition as

SCOPE OF WORK
Furnish all labor, materials, and equipment to install a new burglar alarm system, including complete
wiring, device installation, programming, testing, and training. The system shall meet all applicable
codes and school security standards.
The contractor will be responsible for providing a total working solution at the end of the project.

Note: The vendor must be a certified installer for Digital Monitoring Products.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
All work to include inspections will be accomplished within 25 business days after the Purchase Order has
been sent to the appropriate contractor. Extensions will only be authorized by Guilford County Schools, School
Safety and Emergency Management.
2. Failure to adhere to any portion of this Statement of Work, GCS Cabling Specifications, codes and/or
accepted industry standards (unless specifically stated otherwise in this Statement of Work) and final
inspections will delay payment until all portions are met. Failure to meet any portion may cause refusal
of payment.
3. The installer is responsible for reading, understanding and following this Scope of Work, GCS Cabling
Specifications and obtains the proper permits i.e. Low Voltage, Fire Inspections. Meet the requirements
set forth by the Guilford County Fire Marshal and Guilford and High Point Electrical Inspections
Departments.
4. Permits can be obtained at the following locations:
A. Guilford County Fire Marshal's Office, 1002 Meadowood Street, Greensboro, NC 27409
B. Guilford County Planning and Development, 400 West Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27402
C. High Point 211 South Hamilton St, High Point, NC 27260
5. Pathways in a lay-in ceiling environment can consist of J-hooks, caddy straps, conduit and/or open bottom
cable trays. Pathways in an open ceiling environment can consist of conduit, raceway and/or closed bottom
cable trays. Pathways existing or new, must maintain a 40% or less fill. All data cabling that leaves the
building and is incased in any type of conduit or hung on J-Hooks under deck structures will have to be
Outdoor Direct Burial type cable.
6. If conduit or sleeves are needed for this job, it will be the responsibility of the contractor to have it
installed unless otherwise stated in the SOW.
7. All penetrations will require bushings and fire stop in accordance with Guilford County and applicable city
fire codes.
8. All cabling, patch panels, racks, etc. shall be labeled according to GCS Cabling Specifications.
9. All cabling will be tested to meet or exceed GCS Cabling Specifications.
10. Once the job has been finished, you will have to Contact the Guilford County Fire Marshal and the
Guilford County or High Point Planning and Development for final inspections
11. Contractors will be required to provide GCS School Safety and Emergency Management test results and
final inspection sheets from both the Fire and Electrical inspections within 3 business days after completion
of work.
12. All work areas will be left in a clean and orderly manner.
13. Include with proposal: Panduit Cabling Certification, a NC State Security License if applicable; a copy of
the electrical license for the electrician any other certifications or licenses as needed to complete the job.
Installer Qualifications
Part 1 GENERAL
1.1. Infrastructure
A. Infrastructure Contractor must meet ALL qualifications listed here and any other
qualifications as required by the Construction Manager or General Contractor.
1. Panduit Certified Installer
a) Panduit Certified Installer or Guilford County Schools Specific Panduit
Certified Installer
b) Panduit Certification Plus System Warranty Program Member
c) Personnel names, training, and certifications must be provided to Guilford
County Schools Technology Services.
2. BICSI member, current and in good standing.
3. All past work for Guilford County Schools certified with no outstanding issues.
4. Contractor certifications and proof of requirements must be provided to Guilford
County Schools Technology Services.
1.2. Sub-Contracting
A. Contractors under this specification are expected to perform all work in their contract with
permanent employees. However, one level of sub-contracting is permissible.
1.3. Warranty
A. Contractor will warrant that all technology work installed by Contractor.
1. Is in good working order, free from defects, and in conformance with system
specifications.
2. Manufacturer’s official published specifications have been followed.
3. All rules, regulations, codes, etc. have been followed.
4. Functions as specified in these specifications and manufacturer’s literature.
B. Warranty begins at date of acceptance and remains in effect for
1. Infrastructure Cabling, twenty-five (25) years.
2. All other, one (1) year.
C. Repairs, adjustments, and/or replacements (as determined by Guilford County Schools
Technology Services to be in its best interest) to any defective equipment, materials, or other
parts of the system will be provided at no cost to Guilford County Schools.
D. All third-party warranties shall be passed through from the Contractor to Guilford
County Schools.
E. Contractor will provide, prior to request for final payment:
1. Completed manufacturer registration form.
2. Warranty certificates i.e., Panduit, Corning, etc.
