Summary
The State’s objective is to be able to communicate instances of traffic slowdowns and/or congestion to commercial vehicle operators with advance notice so that they can make a timely response to ensure their safety and the safety of the motoring public. Slow traffic often presents a significant safety hazard, especially at the end of traffic queues where vehicle speeds drop suddenly. Commercial vehicles involved in end-of-queue crashes can cause significant damage, injury, and loss of life. Giving commercial vehicle drivers advance notice of slowdowns and traffic queues gives them an opportunity to react sooner to slow down or avoid these dangerous situations. |
