BARRACKS RD. SOUNDWALL REPAIR

The City of Charlottesville is requesting bids for RFQ 27-09 BARRACKS RD. SOUNDWALL REPAIR the repair of Soundwall "C" located at Route 250/Barracks Road. The initial damage occurred sometime in the Spring of 2025. The city received notice in February of 2026. Significant damage was incurred to both the H-Pile (Route 250 side) front and back, and the Soundwall panels on both sides of the H-Pile. A full damage assessment was conducted on April 10, 2026, by an outside Engineering Firm. Their final recommendation is for a full replacement of the H-Pile and the Soundwall panels directly adjacent to the impacted pile.

The city would like to have repairs begin as soon as possible. The City Engineer will be the point of contact for this repair and work collaboratively with the successful bidder throughout the scope of construction.

In late spring of 2025, a dump truck traveling eastbound on 250 pulled a hard 90-degree turn and collided into Soundwall "C" at the on-ramp location of Barracks Road entering Route 250. Significant damage was incurred to both the H-Pile (Route 250 side) front and back, and the Soundwall panels on both sides of the H-Pile. There is a hole through the Soundwall with exposed crumbling debris creating public safety concerns.

Traffic will need to be redirected around the damaged site during construction.
