GENERAL INFORMATION
Title of Project:
Neoprobe Gamma Detection System
Type of Contract Contemplated: Equipment Purchase
SCOPE- The neoprobe Gamma Detection System console, with BLUETOOTH® wireless technology, detects presence of gamma rays emitted from radioactive isotopes in body organs or tissue. System provides an increasing or decreasing sound and visual indicator (Count Bar) that vary in pitch as level of gamma radioactivity increases or decreases. This is a brand name or equal request.

High Sensitivity:
The system incorporates state of the art detectors that capture even low levels of gamma radiation, ensuring precise detection in environments where sensitivity is critical.
Superior Energy Resolution:
Advanced detector materials and sophisticated digital signal processing enable excellent energy resolution. This precision allows for clear discrimination between different gamma energy lines, crucial for identifying specific radionuclides.
Rapid Response Time:
Engineered for real-time monitoring, the system processes gamma interactions promptly. This is vital when assessing dynamic radiological environments or responding quickly to changes.
Robust, Compact Design:
A durable and portable design means it can be deployed in harsh conditions whether in fixed installations or as part of mobile emergency response units.
Advanced Signal Processing:
Integrated digital filtering and noise-rejection algorithms enhance measurement accuracy. This sophisticated processing minimizes the impact of background noise, ensuring that the detected signals truly represent the radiological environment.
User-Friendly Interface:
An intuitive display and streamlined software interface allow operators to easily access, interpret, and act on real-time data. Operators can quickly calibrate the system and adjust settings as needed without extensive training.
Versatile Applications:
Designed to meet diverse monitoring requirements, in contexts ranging from nuclear safeguards and environmental monitoring to homeland security and emergency response operations.
Data Logging and Connectivity:
With built-in data logging features and options for wired or wireless connectivity, the system can integrate into larger monitoring networks. This facilitates remote oversight and long-term trend analysis.
Wide Energy Range Coverage:
Capable of detecting gamma photons over a broad energy spectrum, the system is well-suited for a variety of radiological scenarios, ensuring comprehensive monitoring.
Auto-Calibration and Quality Control:
Automated calibration routines help maintain consistent performance over time. This self-calibration capability ensures that the system remains reliable and accurate even after extended field deployment.
Energy Efficient:
Optimized for lower power consumption, supports prolonged operation during remote or field deployments, benefiting battery-operated setups.
Principles of operation: Detecting gamma radiation with a hand-held probe is based on inverse square law of physics which allows detection of radiation emitted from a small source. Placing probe close to radioactive site increases number of counts detected and localization occurs. Excision of lesion is then performed using standard surgical technique.
Restrictive environmental conditions: DO NOT USE IN PRESENCE OF FLAMMABLE ANESTHETICS OR EXPLOSIVE GASES. DO NOT GAMMA OR STEAM (AUTOCLAVE) STERILIZE ANY COMPONENT, PART, OR ACCESSORY.
Intended use: ultrasonic surgical system consisting of handpieces and associated tips for cutting bone and bone substitutes
Equipment with which the item is used: Various Probes, Collimator
End item application: Gamma Radiation Detection
Original equipment manufacturer part number: NA
