​The​ ​objective​ ​of​ t​ his​ R​ equest​ f​ or​ ​Proposal​ (​ RFP)​ ​is​​to​c​ ontract​​with​​a​q​ ualified​p​ roposer​t​ hat​​will​p​ rovide​
​new​c​ ore​​instructional​​materials​​in​s​ cience​​for​g​ rades​5​ ​​and​8​ ,​a​ s​w​ ell​​as​B​ iology.​​The​​instructional​m​ aterials​
​should​ ​meet​ ​the​ ​needs​ o​ f​ a​ ll​ ​learners,​ ​including​ ​those​ ​with​ ​special​ n​ eeds,​ ​English​ l​anguage​ ​learners,​ ​and​
​those who require enrichment opportunities.​
​The selected materials should include:​
​●​ A​ comprehensive curriculum aligned with the North Carolina K-12 Science Standards.​
●​ ​ P​ rofessional​ d​ evelopment​ f​ or​ ​educators​ t​ o​ ​ensure​ s​ uccessful​ i​mplementation​ ​and​ i​ntegration​ ​of​
​materials.​
●​ ​ D​ igital​ ​and/or​ p​ hysical​ ​resources​ t​ hat​ s​ upport​ ​in-class​ i​nstruction,​ ​differentiation,​ ​and​ s​ tudent​
​engagement.​
●​ ​ ​Teacher​ a​ nd​ ​student​ a​ ssessments​ t​ hat​ ​track​ s​ tudent​ ​progress​ ​and​ ​help​ i​nform​ ​instructional​
​decisions.​
