academic g oals, a lign w ith s tate standards, and engage s tudents in rigorous, m eaningful learning f or the
2026-2027 school y ear t hrough t he 2031-2032 s chool y ear. The instructional m aterialss houldmeetthe
needs of all learners,includingthosew iths pecialn eeds,E nglishlanguagelearners,a ndthosew horequire
enrichment o pportunities. T he s elected m aterials m ust b e c omprehensive, r esearch-based, a nd
user-friendly for teachers and students alike.
It is the purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) to

more t han 6 ,600 full-time s taff m embers. CCS s erves a highlyd iversea ndmobilepopulation,with45.9%
Black,24.3%White,16.4%Hispanic,1 .96%A sian,1.3%NativeA merican,0.49%H awaiian/PacificIslander,
and 9.66% identifying a s two or more races. D ue to its p roximity t o Fort Bragg, approximately 1 5,400

students (28%) are military- o r federally c onnected, a nd the d istrict s upports learners from 118 native
language backgrounds, w ith Spanish, Arabic, a nd Haitian C reole among t he most commonly s poken
languages.
The district provides specialized s upport t o a pproximately 7 ,200studentsr eceivingExceptionalC hildren
(EC) services and 5 ,500 students e nrolled in A cademically o r I ntellectually G ifted ( AIG) p rograms.Int he
most recent g raduating c lass, C CS a warded d iplomas and c ertificates to a pproximately 3,667 graduates,

The objective of t his R equest f or Proposal ( RFP) istoc ontractwithaq ualifiedp roposert hatwillp rovide
newc oreinstructionalmaterialsins cienceforg rades5 and8 ,a sw ellasB iology.Theinstructionalm aterials
should meet the needs o f a ll learners, including those with special n eeds, English language learners, and
those who require enrichment opportunities.
The selected materials should include:
● A comprehensive curriculum aligned with the North Carolina K-12 Science Standards.
● P rofessional d evelopment f or educators t o ensure s uccessful implementation and integration of
materials.
● D igital and/or p hysical resources t hat s upport in-class instruction, differentiation, and s tudent
engagement.
● Teacher a nd student a ssessments t hat track s tudent progress and help inform instructional
decisions.
C CS seeks any of the following formats in student and teacher materials for evaluation:
a. Physical textbooks, instructional materials, tools, and ancillary resources.
b . Digital textbooks, instructional m aterials, t ools, and a ncillary r esources (PDF, onlineb ook,digital
p latform suite, etc.)
c . Access to t he digital textbook p latform w ith interactive c ontent and/or assessment features f or
teachers, if applicable.
d. CCSpreferst oawardancillaryr esourcesforthesec oursesins eriesbutreservesther ightt oaward
r esources that are not in the series if in the best interest of CCS.
