Project Description: Notice of Intent
Sole Source Procurement
This is not a solicitation for bids or proposals. This is a notice of intent to purchase a product without seeking competition.
Any responses received as a result of this Notice of Intent shall be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Responses will not be considered as proposals, bids, or quotes. The proposed contract action is for products or services for which the College intends to negotiate and award with only one source, as permitted under the authority of the Utah Procurement Code (U.S.C. § 63G-6a-802, as amended).
Product and/or service to be purchased:
2024 B6.7 CM2450 B155B Tear Down and Turnkey Training Module
2024 X15 CM2450 X142B Tear Down and Turnkey Training Modules
Proposed Sole Source Supplier: Cummins
Sole Source Justification:
Cummins will serve as the sole-source provider for these training module packages. This comprehensive training program has been developed by Cummins specifically to support the education of technicians participating in our TAP program. It will also enable us to certify additional Cummins employees, as well as train our regular students enrolled in medium- and heavy-duty engine courses during the day.
As part of this partnership, Cummins will provide proprietary software and exclusive training not available to the general public. Our instructors will receive this training directly from Cummins to ensure effective use of the modules.
In addition to the training modules, we will receive teardown engines that will allow technicians to gain hands-on experience with engine components. The package also includes proprietary testing materials and curriculum content, which will be made available through Cummins’ training department.
Responses:
Interested and capable vendors may respond to the stated requirements and justification by email or electronic communication through U3P. Such communication should include a statement regarding their capability to provide the specified procurement item. Responses will be considered only if they include clear and convincing documentation that demonstrates the capability of meeting or exceeding the requirements stated herein. All responses received by the due date and time specified in the posting will be reviewed by the College. A determination not to complete this proposed action based on the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of Salt Lake Community College Purchasing Services.
All responses must be in writing and returned to Brandon Ostrander at brandon.ostrander@slcc.edu prior to the Due Date indicated in the posting. Note the Document Number of this posting on all communication.
