The Energy Efficiency Studies (EES) Department offers a broad range of expertise primarily in support of the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) Appliance & Equipment Standards Program and its mission to promulgate standards (through a rulemaking process) that achieve the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is both technologically feasible and economically justified. EES conducts research and develops a unique and powerful set of core capabilities, including: energy policy analysis, cost-benefits assessment, including uncertainty and variability analysis, product life-cycle cost analysis, energy modeling and forecasting, environmental impacts assessment. EES analysis cover a range of products, including residential appliance, commercial and industrial equipment, and lighting system. The selected offeror will be responsible for two primary projects: Energy conservation standards analysis and text procedure development. Within each project, the tasks apply to selected space-heating, water-heating, and electronics equipment for which DOE funds Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) during the performance period of the Subcontract. In addition, the offeror will provide strategic advice regarding research within the program and assist on additional research tasks as needed.
