Description
Summary:
Through this Request for Proposals (“RFP”), the City of Merritt (the “City”) invites Proposals from suitability qualified and experienced companies, interested in performing works to repair and replace the mechanical mezzanine space the City’s Nicola Valley Aquatic Centre.
Summary of the Work: Full details of the Work required is provided in Divisions 1 to 22, plus the Contract Drawings contained in Exhibit A of this RFP. The Work includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Installation of protective hoarding for the equipment remaining in-place below the selective demolition. Selective demolition and removal of existing reinforced concrete slab, steel decking and timber post and beam shoring to extents indicated by the Structural Drawings. Installation of structural steel, steel decking and reinforced concrete slab. Drainage system modifications, including installation of floor drains. Preparation for and painting of the finished soffit, including existing steel beams. Installation of concrete housekeeping slabs per existing layouts and sizes.

Location: The Place of the Work is the Nicola Valley Aquatic Centre, located at 2040 Mamette Avenue, Merritt, BC, as shown on the Drawings.

Budget: The City is not disclosing a budget for this Work, but has completed internal cost estimates and has approved budget funds. Respondents are to submit pricing based on the details provided in this RFP.
Contract Time & Construction Schedule for the Work: All public and pedestrian access to the Nicola Valley Aquatic Centre will be restricted between August 1

, 2026, in what will hereafter be referred to as the “Shutdown Period”. The Construction Schedule shall reflect completion of all Work under this Contract within the Shutdown Period specified and in accordance with the Specifications. The Shutdown Period must include 5 days at the start for the City to decommission and remove mechanical equipment and for 7 days prior to September 30

during which the City will fill the pool tanks and commission the reinstated mechanical equipment. Other Works that do not affect decommissioning or recommissioning may overlap these activities in the schedule. Prior to the Shutdown Period, the Work area may be made available to the Contractor for non-destructive work, pending approval by the Owner. Form of Contract: The Form of Contract to be executed between the City and the Contractor for the Work will be the CCDC2 – 2020 Stipulated Price Contract, as modified by Supplementary Conditions detailed herein.
