Purchase and Sale of the Former Welton St. School Property

The City’s primary objective is to sell this Property for residential housing development. This property once housed the Welton Center School - a vacant historic building (7,944 sq ft.) built c.1922, with fencing added in 1971 (Waterbury GIS). The Former Welton Street School later served as the city’s welfare office until its closure in 1998. In 2005, a fire left damage to the interior building and roof. In March 2024, the building caught fire and significantly damaged the building to a state of disrepair. Since then, all building remnants have been demolished and removed.
