Project Description One-Two Sentences
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) is soliciting submittals from qualified, multidisciplinary Design Teams to plan, design, and support construction for the development of Carolina North, a mixed-use campus. Carolina North represents an opportunity to create a vibrant new campus district that supports the University's long-term research, academic and enrollment growth initiatives, enhances existing community amenities, and delivers a world-class mixed-use environment that includes exceptional public spaces and an inviting retail/entertainment district. This scope of work will deliver the land use and infrastructure master plans that will guide the implementation of Carolina North. UNC-CH anticipates conducting a search for selecting a Development Partner through a separate RFP who will lead and deliver the mixed-use component of Carolina North through a public-private partnership (P3). Accordingly, the successful Design Team will work collaboratively with both the University and the Development Partner in the master planning of Carolina North, including creating a cohesive and activated land use plan, with integrated and coordinated infrastructure, amenities, multi-modal circulation and parking. It is anticipated that this project scope may continue for several years as Carolina North is delivered in phases. While the majority of the work will occur following the selection of the Development Partner, it is proposed that the Design Team undertake an initial strategic scope of work in advance of that selection. A mandatory pre-submission meeting will be held via Zoom on February 23rd at 2:00pm. https://unc.zoom.us/j/99397382997. This meeting will provide an opportunity to ask questions of University staff and representatives. Please visit the UNC website for additional information concerning the project as well as the full submission requirements. It is the responsibility of each respondent to examine the entire RFQ, seek clarification in writing, and review its submittal for accuracy before submitting the document.
