On behalf of the pre-qualified Construction Managers at Risk: AL Huber, Straub Construction, Universal, and Hausmann the Lee’s Summit School District is seeking proposals from trade contractors and subcontractors to provide construction services for the Lee’s Summit School District’s Addition and Renovation of Pleasant Lea Middle School.
Bid documents will be available from Drexel Technologies 816-471-7176 on Monday March 23rd, 2026.
Responses are due from the Construction Manager to the Owner before 3:00 pm on Tuesday April 28, 2026 when the District will publicly open and read aloud the bids that were received. Trade contractor and subcontractor bids shall be submitted directly to the above listed CMaR contractors.

Your firm is invited to submit a Bid under seal to the Owner for the Pleasant Lea Middle School Addition and Renovation project. The Owner will receive bids mailed and hand delivered at Facilities Services, 502 SE Transport Drive in Lee's Summit, MO 64081 on Tuesday April 28th, 2026, until 3:00 pm CST. Bids received after 3:00 pm will be returned unopened.
Description: The project consists of phased additions and renovations to a 1973 era cast in place concrete middle school that will be occupied during construction. Site work includes a new drive entryway and parking area, stormwater basins with landscaping and an outdoor classroom. The addition includes 26,500 square foot classroom space for 6th grade pod and connecting circulation space. The heavy renovation area includes of 73,000 square feet of existing classrooms on the north side of the building, including new walls, doors, ceilings, stairs, clerestory windows and lightwells, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection. Other areas in the building will receive limited renovations and fire sprinklering.
The projects shall be bid and let as one (1) Prime Contract.

Contractors desiring the Contract Documents for use in preparing bids may also obtain a set of such documents from Drexel Technologies; 10840 West 86th Street, Lenexa, KS 66214, telephone number is 913-371-4430. Bidding documents will be shipped only if the requesting party assumes responsibility for all related charges. Corporate, certified, or cashier’s checks shall be made payable to Drexel Technologies, Inc.
A voluntary pre-bid meeting will be held at the Pleasant Lea Middle School in the Library at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday March 25th, 2026. Please take note: park in the lot north of the building and enter at the Library door. Do not arrive before 3:35. Immediately following the meeting will be a guided tour of the school.
A bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid shall be submitted with each proposal. A Performance Bond and a Labor and Materials Payment Bond, each for the full amount of the contract, will be required of the successful Bidder.
Lee's Summit Schools hereby notifies all bidders that minority, disadvantaged and women-owned business owners will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, or national origin in consideration for an award.
All labor utilized in the construction of this project must comply with State Prevailing Wage Laws. All contractors and sub-contractors employed upon the site of work shall be paid once a week a wage of no less than the prevailing hourly rate of wages for work of similar character in Jackson County as established by the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, Wage Order 32.
All employees working for contractors or subcontractors on this project shall receive OSHA 10-hour construction safety training within ten (10) days of beginning work on the project.
All Contractors shall verify that employees assigned to this project are not registered on the Missouri Sex Offender Registry, as posted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Local Sherriff Departments. Contractor shall also verify with other similar registries by other States.
This project requires use of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) E-Verify program to verify contractor’s employees’ eligibility to work in the United States. E-Verify, which compares information from the Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) against federal government databases to verify workers’ employment eligibility, is a free web-based system operated by DHS in partnership with the Social Security Administration (SSA). Contractor certifies that it is not currently engaged in and will not for the duration of the contract engage in a boycott of Isreal as defined by state statute.
The Owner reserves the right to accept or reject any bids, reject all bids, and waive irregularities in bids.
