Description
Independently, and not as an agent of the Government, The Contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, transportation, tools, materials, supervision, and other items and non-personal services necessary to conduct a study to research the lives of the 130 known USCTs. The SOI-qualified historian (Ph.D degree) will work closely with a professional genealogist, so that living descendants can be identified and contacted.
This study will focus on historical documentation of 130 known USCT veterans, including their names, occupations, birth/death dates, military records, pension records, and other pertinent life information needed to more accurately inform the park of these veteran¿s contributions to our nation¿s history. The information gathered during this project is essential for meeting the legal requirements of a signed 2023 Memorandum of Agreement between the Park and the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) to mitigate an adverse effect from two landslides in the national cemetery from 2020-2021 that required the disinterment of 102 veteran graves.
The study shall conform to professional standards regarding methodology of historical research and writing. Stylistic, bibliographical, and report production standards shall conform to the current edition of the Chicago Manual of Style.
