Overview

Summary

The project includes a complete replacement of the existing building HVAC systems. Work includes demolition of existing units and installation of new, including all associated electrical, controls, piping, and all necessary work for complete system installation. Specifically replacing all building systems with a quantity of two 15-ton VAV DX Split systems and a decoupled 100% outside air DX split system, and new VAV terminal units for zone control of HVAC systems, a new DDC control system, modifications to existing ductwork, new exhaust fans and all necessary equipment for complete HVAC renovation. Recommended alternative scope of work. Additional work to enhance the performance of the renovated HVAC systems and to improve the overall building environment includes sealing the attic space to the exterior and to the ceilings of Interior spaces, repairing/replacing damaged batt insulation in the attic, or providing Icynene spray-on foam insulation for the underside of the roof deck in all areas.

Background

The Solid Waste Administration Building’s existing HVAC system, consisting of seven DX split units and a dedicated outdoor air unit, is beyond its useful life and unable to maintain uniform space temperatures. The scope is to replace the HVAC system, including centralized controls, address uneven space temperatures, and consolidate and relocate equipment to make it more serviceable and replaceable.
