Sheff Interdistrict Magnet Schools Summer Enrichment

Purpose: Through this grant, the Connecticut State Department of Education seeks to expand enrichment and extracurricular programming opportunities to include summer enrichment offerings for interdistrict magnet schools in the Sheff Region to provide continuous opportunities to access integrated settings that support social, emotional, and academic growth. The goal of the Sheff Interdistrict Magnet Schools Summer Enrichment Grant is to increase the involvement and participation of students in summer enrichment/extracurricular activities to support academic development, students’ social-emotional well-being, and build community among student participants pursuant to the State's commitments in the Comprehensive School Choice Plan . Thus, the purpose of this grant is to serve four (4) key priorities: 1) provide students with access to enriching academic activities and supports through summer programming to promote student achievement, skills development and leadership; 2) provide a continuum of academic and extracurricular enrichment between school years to promote academic and social engagement over the summer months; 3) build school community among student participants in Sheff interdistrict magnet programs through fun and engaging enrichment and extracurricular activities; and 4) support student social-emotional development of student participants.
