Description
Forestry Services’ firefighting forces are concentrated in the 6.2-million-acre fire protection area which covers all or parts of 15 counties of eastern Oklahoma. Statue provides for the Protection Area to be formally established by the State Forester, based upon need, available manpower and equipment resources. Early detection and rapid response by fire crews minimize the damage to property and natural resources. Forestry Services is responsible for initial attacks inside the Protection Area and support for the remainder of the State.
