Description
PROPONENT’S REQUIREMENTS – CUT LINE
a) Review the existing documentation, provided by the Province, that delineate and describe recommended fire breaks;
b) With a focus on the protection of people and infrastructure, and with the project management team, determine the best plan for implementation;
c) In close collaboration with department representation, conduct ground-truthing of all proposed firebreaks and update the plan(s) as required;
d) Coordinate all aspects of environmental review and historic resource clearances, and ensure best practice are in place to prevent the introduction of invasive species before any deployment of equipment and any vegetation removal begins;
e) Creation of 50m wide fuel breaks along containment lines C1, C1-2, C1-P, C1-P2, and C1-P3 (map provided below). This work represents roughly 37 hectares of forest clearing;
f) Piling of forest material;
g) Burning of materials during winter months, while forest is under snow cover; and
h) Manage the project plan and deliverables.
PROPONENT’S REQUIREMENTS – ARBORISTS
a) Working with the Province’s management team, develop an implementation plan for the identification of trees and shrubs for cutting-down, trimming, and removing of fuel sources within the townsite of Elkwater.
