NOTICE OF TAKING BIDS FOR THE DEMOLITION OF 2812 NIOBRARA AVENUE PROJECT IN SIOUX CITY, IOWA.

Sealed bids will be received in the City Purchasing Office located in Room 408, City Hall, 405 Sixth Street in Sioux City Iowa, until 10:00 A.M., Local Time, March 23, 2026 for the demolition of the project, as described in the demolition documents. The project is a church located at 2812 Niobrara Avenue and includes demolition of the structure, removal of debris and site work. Asbestos has been abated. Contractor will need to verify that all utilities have been disconnected.

Bids received will be opened and tabulated at a public meeting, presided over by the City Purchasing Manager or his designee in the City Purchasing Office located on in Room 408, City Hall, 405 Sixth Street, in Sioux City Iowa, at 10:00 A.M., Local Time, March 23, 2026. Thereafter, bids will be acted upon by the City Council at such time and place as may be fixed. A pre-bid meeting and tour of the building will be held at 2812 Niobrara Avenue on March 18, 2026 at 10a.m. CST.  Questions shall be due by end of day, March 18, 2026 with final addendum issued, as needed, on March 19, 2026.

Each bid must be made on a form furnished by the City and must be accompanied by a bid bond, a cashier’s check or certified check of an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States, or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States, in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, made payable to the City Treasurer of the City of Sioux City, Iowa. The check or draft may be cashed by the City Treasurer as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract within the ten (10) days after notice of award and post bond satisfactory to the City ensuring the faithful fulfillment of the contract.

The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. However, the City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, readvertise for new bids and to waive informalities that may be in the best interest of the City. By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the state of Iowa and to Iowa domestic labor.

The work on this project shall begin upon receipt of the Notice to Proceed and be fully completed within 30 Calendar Days.

Specifications for this project shall be the 2026 version of the Iowa Statewide Urban Standard Specifications for Public Improvements modified in accordance with the 2024 version of the City of Sioux City Supplement. Special attention is called to Division 10, Demolition.
