NOTICE TO BIDDERS
CITY OF BIG RAPIDS SNOW REMOVAL SERVICES
The City of Big Rapids will accept sealed bids for SNOW REMOVAL SERVICES until
2:00pm. Monday September 14, 2026 local time, in the Office of the City Treasurer,
226 North Michigan Avenue, Big Rapids, MI 49307.
Specifications may be obtained at the Public Works Office or on the City website at
www.cityofbr.org.
All proposals shall be clearly marked "BID FOR SNOW REMOVAL SERVICES". The
City of Big Rapids reserves the right to accept or reject all or any bids or to waive
informalities, and to award the bid in any manner deemed to be in the best interest
of the City.

SNOW REMOVAL SERVICES:
A. Scope of Work:
The CONTRACTOR shall furnish equipment with an operator for the removal of snow in the
City of Big Rapids on an "AS REQUIRED" basis. Under the direction of the City, such
equipment would be used to remove snow from streets, roadways and parking lots from
the time of contract award by the City through April 15, 2027.
B. Equipment:
1. All equipment shall be in proper operating condition.
2. When equipment and an operator is furnished, the CONTRACTOR is responsible for
all maintenance, fuel, materials, labor and other expenses involved therewith.
C. Equipment Availability:
1. The CONTRACTOR, in furnishing equipment to the City on an "AS REQUIRED" basis,
shall be prepared to have equipment at the designated job site upon two (2) hours
notice. Such equipment shall be available twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7)
days a week, unless the contractor indicates otherwise on the bid proposal form.
Failure to have equipment at the job site after having been given proper notice by
the City may be grounds for termination of contract.
D. Hourly Rental Rate(s):
The CONTRACTOR'S "hourly rental rate" for equipment shall apply to time on the job; fees,
charges or other compensation for portal-to-portal travel will be disallowed by the City.
Equipment hourly rental rates shall remain firm during the contract period.
E. Minimum Payment:
When contractor is called to perform services by the Director of Public Works or his/her
designate, each piece of equipment requested and provided, will receive a minimum
payment for three (3) hours.
F. Invoice Information:
The contractor shall be responsible for providing the City with the following invoice
information on each piece of equipment:
1. Type of Rental Unit
2. Unit Capacity
3. Unit Rental Rate
4. Date of Service Rendered
5. Hours of Service Rendered
