Description

David Kolb Learning Style Inventory (LSI) learning assessments are used to understand how individuals learn from their experiences. The model suggests that learning is a continuous process that involves four stages each representing a different mode of learning. First is concrete experience, which is something one observes, feels, or participates in directly. Second is reflective observation, which is when one carefully considers what happened. They may think about emotions, thoughts, or reactions they had during the experience. Third is abstract conceptualization, is when one tries to make sense of their experience by forming abstract concepts or generalizations. They may analyze the experience, identify patterns, and draw conclusions. Lastly active experimentation is when people use personal concepts and theories on new situations to test their understanding of outcomes. The LSI learning assessments directly contribute to the US Army Transformation and Training Command (T2COM)'s Accredittation of Training Operations Management Activity (TOMA)-validated Programs of Instruction (POIs).
