Description

Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to require, on a sole source basis, a brand name requirement for the manufacturer Electric Power, Inc. (EPI) to supply the 480V, 4,000A Shielded Disconnect Switches (SDS) for the Cape Cod Space Force Station (CCSFS) Power Generations Microgrid project to be constructed in, Bourne, MA.

The Power Generation Microgrid project will construct a microgrid intended to replace the aging power generation plant and associated infrastructure with all new electrical systems and backup power assets on CCSFS. The shielded Disconnect Switches along with the power filters protect against High-altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) events. The SDS are a necessary part of protecting crucial mission critical equipment and facilities and are required to meet military standards. The Power Plant (Building 4) will have two incoming power lines requiring these SDS. The technology of the EPI switch connections is the only available option which meets the MIL-STD protection criteria.
