PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Henry County Courthouse is accepting sealed bids for the furnishing of all materials and labor necessary to design, install, and establish a native plantings landscape at the Courthouse grounds in Cambridge, Illinois.

SCOPE OF WORK

The selected contractor shall provide, at minimum, the following services:

  • Site assessment and preparation, including removal of invasive or non-native plants as identified during walk-through
  • Supply and installation of Illinois-native plant species appropriate to site conditions (sun, shade, moisture, soil type)
  • Soil amendment as needed to support native plant establishment
  • Mulching is supplied by the county
  • Installation of edging or borders to define planting areas per site plan
  • Watering and initial establishment care through first growing season
  • Final cleanup and site restoration upon project completion
  • All work to be completed in compliance with applicable local codes and best horticultural practices

Bidders are responsible for verifying all site conditions. The County reserves the right to adjust quantities and species selections prior to contract award.

BID SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

All bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked on the outside:

“Courthouse Landscape — Native Plantings Project”

Submission Deadline:  March 30, 2026, by 2:30 p.m.

Submit To:  Henry County Courthouse, County Administrator Office

Late bids will not be accepted. Bids submitted by fax or email will not be considered.

Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at:

The bid opening is open to the public. Bidders and interested parties are welcome to attend.

BID REQUIREMENTS

All submitted bids must include:

  • Completed bid form with itemized pricing (materials and labor listed separately)
  • Proposed plant species list with quantities, sizes, and container types
  • Contractor's license number and proof of insurance (general liability and workers' compensation)
  • List of at least three (3) comparable native planting projects completed within the last five (5) years, including references
  • Timeline for project completion
  • Any proposed substitutions or alternatives clearly identified

RESERVATION OF RIGHTS

Henry County reserves the right to reject any or all bids, or any part or parts of any bid, when the public interest will be best served thereby. Henry County further reserves the right to waive any informalities or irregularities in any bid received, and to accept the bid deemed most advantageous to the County.
