The Government requires a self-contained trailer unit designed for safe entry and work within Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson's (JBER) communication manhole systems. The unit must be equipped with atmospheric testing capabilities for oxygen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and lower explosive limits (LEL). Integrated ventilation, preferably utilizing air blowers, is required for confined space ventilation and moisture control. Essential water removal capabilities must include both sump and centrifugal/hydraulic pumps. A dedicated power source (generator) is necessary for continuous operation due to the interconnected nature of the manhole system. Finally, the unit must provide ample electrical outlets to power corded tools such as drills and saws necessary for in-manhole operations.
The 673CS/SCOW workcenter requires a trailer-mounted (pintle hitch) mobile generator unit capable of providing a minimum of four (4) 110VAC (10A) and one 220VAC (10A) receptacles. The generator should have a minimum fuel capacity of 20 gallons, preferably gasoline, but diesel is acceptable. Integrated water removal is required, utilizing either a built-in submersible pump or a body-mounted centrifugal pump with a 2-inch intake and discharge hoses for manhole dewatering. The unit must also be equipped with a forced-air ventilation system capable of delivering both ambient and heated air for manhole ventilation and splice drying.
