I. INTRODUCTION
The San Lorenzo Valley Water District (SLVWD or District) is soliciting quotes from contractors
to implement pre-construction measures for tree removal and maintenance on District-owned
land. The property is an undeveloped parcel located northwest of the intersection of Dundee
Avenue and Country Club Drive in Ben Lomond, California (APN 078-233-05). Tree-service work
is necessary to construct a new 120,000-gallon capacity tank and to create safe working
conditions at this site.
II. SCOPE OF SERVICES
The work will consist of the removal of 12 trees and maintenance of an additional 11
trees. Prior to starting any tree removal or maintenance, an onsite meeting with
SLVWD’s consulting arborist will be required, with follow-up meetings as necessary.
a) TREE REMOVAL
Eight (8) live trees and four (4) dead trees require removal. Figure 1 is provided as reference for
locations of numbered trees. Diameter at breast height (DBH) is the width of the trunk in inches
measured at 4.5 feet above natural grade (ground level). For trees that were unable to be
measured at 4.5 feet above natural grade, measurement heights are provided. See the

III. CHIPPING OR DISPOSAL OF MATERIALS
Contractor will log, chip, or remove all excess debris caused by the cutting or removal of trees.
Logs will be cut into 16” lengths and safely stacked and left on site at a designated area
determined by SLVWD staff. Branches and other material will be removed from site and legally
disposed of as green waste.
IV. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Contractor must protect all non-target plant materials, site improvements, structures, facilities,
utilities, and natural or cultural areas from damage, both above and below ground. Any
damages shall be reported immediately to an SLVWD representative. Any damages caused by
Contractor shall be corrected and/or paid for by the Contractor at no cost to SLVWD.
Specific measures include:
Conduct all operations to avoid unacceptable damage to boles, roots and crowns of
existing trees, seedlings and other vegetation.
Avoid buffer zones determined by SLVWD’s representative to protect amphibians,
cultural sites or other specific areas of concern. Avoidance buffers may be identified
before or during work activity.
Contractor is responsible for protection against poison oak and other hazards and will
maintain a health and safety plan for all workers.
Equipment shall not be operated when ground conditions are such to cause erosion or
rutting. All activities that may result in soil erosion during the rainy season should be
protected with appropriate erosion control measures before rain events. These areas
will be determined by SLVWD’s Representative.
The Contractor shall refuel and repair equipment in a safe manner to protect against
accidental spills. Measures shall be taken to prevent, control, and clean-up spills. Clean-
ups should be immediate, automatic and routine and performed by a trained staff
member. Contact the local emergency response team agencies to report all minor or
major spills.
Contractor shall not sweep, wash or blow soil, litter, chips, or other materials into storm
drains. Contractor shall not apply any pesticides.
V. CLEAN UP
At completion, Contractor will rehabilitate all and any portions of project site area that are
affected by the work performed. Rehabilitation requirement includes but may not be limited to
tire, equipment or track marks, collateral damage to trees and garbage or other project-
generated non-vegetative debris left on site by workers.
VI. PERMITS AND FEES
Contractor shall pay for all permits and fees required for work under this Contract, including
but not limited to all disposal fees. CEQA permitting will not be required of Contractor.
VII. WORK SCHEDULE
Work periods will generally be limited to Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and/or
in accordance with local equipment operating period limitations. No work will be scheduled on
weekends and federal holidays nor will work be performed on Red Flag Warning days. Work
must be completed by March 1, 2026.
VIII. COST ESTIMATE AND SCHEDULE
