Background and Scope of Work

Purpose: DSFM’s underground infrastructure is as old as the original building from the 1970s.   This includes the underground drainage lines that are cast iron.   There is a section of kitchen grease drain inlet (going “into” the grease trap) that has failed.   On a recent exploratory scope, it was discovered that a portion of the cast iron drainpipe is compromised and needs replaced.
Cast iron was a construction standard for drain lines back in the 70s for such applications but it does have limitations.   The lifespan for cast iron is between 50-100 years but deterioration can begin after 25 years.   The 4” grease drain inlet line about 50 years old.  Based on the recent scope, the condition of the pipe and its interior vary from excessive use and some wear to complete compromise and failure.   The section of pipe that is under the kitchen floor is in-tact and not compromised; just heavily worn from decades of use and maintenance.  The underground pipe that goes from the exterior wall of the kitchen to the grease trap has failed on the underside.   This is the presumed reason as to why there is sometimes gravel found at the bottom of the grease trap pit during DSFM’s contacted quarterly grease trap cleanings.   When the grease drains are jetted towards the trap, the water pressure (presumably) moves some of the gravel that was originally used to backfill around the pipe when it was originally installed.
Since the infrastructure is all the same age, DSFM is requesting the section of compromised piping be extracted and replaced with new.   Additionally, as means of preserving the fragile existing piping that is under the kitchen floor, DSFM is requesting that approximately 90ft of pipe liner be installed.  This should preserve the existing, non-compromised drainpipe that is under the finished kitchen floor and ought to allow for another several decades of reliable grease drainage which is crucial for such a commercial kitchen.
It is understood this work will require the kitchen to be shut down for multiple days.  All kitchen sinks, some floor drains, and the steamer cannot be used during this process.   An estimated number of days the kitchen will need to be out of service will need to be provided by the vendor so this (pending) approved service can be scheduled to have the least impact and the kitchen staff can plan accordingly.
All submitted quotes should be itemized and include time estimates for how long to expect the kitchen to be out of service while this work is performed.
Requesting :  A portion of underground drain line needs completely extracted and replaced.   Install a liner for approximately 90ft of pipe that goes under the finished kitchen floor.    (**Listed measurement depths and lengths are all approximate; exact measurements should be verified by vendor).
All work to be performed on-site at 8895 E. Main Street, Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068
