Project Description: The Borough desires to continue the current method of curbside solid waste collection and existing recycling by using an individual private subscription with a single hauler pursuant to a municipal services contract. The successful contractor shall be responsible for the collection, transportation and disposal of residential solid waste, as defined in the specifications and recyclable materials for an initial period of, at least, three years, subject to two additional one-year extensions. Contractors will be providing same day curbside collection of solid waste and recyclable materials once each week, as more fully explained in the contract specifications. The contractor will be responsible to supply each account with a 96-gallon wheeled trash tote for solid waste and a 64-gallon wheeled tote for recyclables. The Borough is also requesting one bulk item pickup per week or per month, listed as alternate rates.
All bids will be opened and read aloud in public at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 6, 2026, at the Pennsburg Municipal Building, 76 W. Sixth Street, Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, 18073. All bid proposals shall remain valid through August 31, 2026, to provide sufficient time for Pennsburg Borough Council to complete its evaluation and consideration of the bids.
Specifications and contract documents are available electronically on PennBid. All proposals must be on forms furnished by the Borough of Pennsburg. The bid or proposal must be accompanied by a bid bond in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the amount bid, with such security made payable to the Borough of Pennsburg. The successful contractor shall be required to furnish Performance and Payment Bonds and Insurance Certifications in the Specifications.
Consideration will be made to the lowest responsible bidder as determined to be in the best interest of the Borough. The Borough reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and waive any informality in the bid.
