The Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments (NVCOG) is seeking a qualified organization to develop a Watershed Based Plan (WBP) for the Mad River Watershed, located in Bristol, Wolcott, and Waterbury, CT. This WBP will characterize nonpoint source pollution, bacteria, and nutrient-loading impacting the watershed, and will articulate a list of priority nonpoint source pollution reduction strategies that will consider cost-effectiveness, bacteria, nutrient and sediment pollutant load reductions, local benefits to the community, and other relevant factors. The WBP will culminate with the identification of locations within the Mad River Watershed where these strategies may be implemented to improve water quality. A Steering Committee will work in tandem with the selected firm(s) to guide the development of the WBP and will eventually transition into a long-term stewardship organization to implement the Plan.
