Description

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a Firm-Fixed-Price Purchase Order to Thermo Fisher Scientific for an EVOS™ M5000 Imaging System.

The Government intends to solicit from a single source in accordance with FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements.

The Laboratory of Cancer Biology and Genetics (LCBG) requires an integrated imaging system to support ongoing NIH-funded research involving pancreatic cancer, including brightfield and fluorescence imaging, immunofluorescence analysis, transwell migration assays, live-cell imaging, bacterial-host interaction studies, and quantitative analysis of tissue specimens.

The required system must provide immediate, standardized brightfield and fluorescence imaging capabilities within the laboratory to support time-sensitive live-cell and fluorescent specimen imaging and reduce dependence on shared microscopy facilities.

The Government requires the following:

  • One (1) EVOS™ M5000 Imaging System, equipped with a 3.2-megapixel scientific-grade monochrome camera and 18.5-inch articulated LCD monitor.

  • One (1) EVOS™ Objective Starter Kit, containing 4X, 10X, and 20X fluorite long-working-distance objectives for brightfield, phase contrast, and fluorescence imaging.

The EVOS™ M5000 was identified as the only commercially available system that meets the Government's complete combination of functional, technical, operational, and workflow requirements as an integrated platform without requiring additional third-party hardware, software, or custom configuration. Other systems evaluated may provide individual comparable components but require additional hardware, separate computers, third-party software, or extensive configuration to provide equivalent functionality.

This notice is not a request for competitive quotations. However, interested parties that believe they can meet the Government's requirements may submit a capability statement demonstrating their ability to provide a system meeting all specified technical and operational requirements.

The Government will consider all timely capability statements received and determine whether the acquisition should proceed as a sole-source procurement or be competed.

The Government anticipates making an award approximately five (5) calendar days after the closing date of this notice, unless the Government determines that another responsible source is capable of meeting the requirement.

Capability statements shall be submitted electronically to haunp@mail.nih.gov no later than 9:00 a.m. EDT on September 18, 2026.

Please reference Notice No. 75N98026Q01178 in the subject line of the response.
