BUILDING (SMEC) REDEVELOPMENT. The City of Fairmont is requesting proposals from developers to purchase and redevelop the Southern Minnesota Educational Campus (SMEC) at 115 S. Park St., Fairmont, MN. The 20,000 sq. ft. building is located on approximately 2 acres near historic downtown and is ideal for housing, commercial, or mixed-use redevelopment. Proposals will be evaluated on offer price, potential tax base impact, development quality, developer qualifications, financial capacity, and community benefit. A full copy of the RFP is available on the City’s website. Proposals are due by Sept. 29, 2025 at 4 p.m..
