"1.7 SEQUENCE OF OPERATIONS - A2L LEAK DETECTION:
A. All ducted fan coil units shall be provided with an integral A2L refrigerant leak detection
sensor to continuously monitor for the presence of refrigerant.

ADDENDUM #1
B. Upon detection of refrigerant leak, the associated indoor unit shall initiate the following
response sequence intended to reduce refrigerant concentration and isolate the affected
system branch.
C. Indoor Fan Coil Unit Leak Response: When an A2L sensor detects a refrigerant leak at a
fan coil unit, the following sequence shall occur:
1. The indoor unit shall generate a refrigerant leak alarm, annunciated at the Building
Automation System (BAS).
2. The ducted fan coil unit shall immediately command its supply fan to operate at
high speed to assist with reducing refrigerant concentration in the served space.
3. The associated Heat Pump Outdoor Unit shall be commanded to initiate pump-
down mode to temporarily move refrigerant out of the affected indoor circuit prior to
shut down in accordance with the manufacturer's safety logic.
4. Following completion of the pump-down sequence, the affected system shall shut
down.
5. The affected indoor unit shall remain in alarm/lockout until the leak condition is
cleared, and the required reset procedure is completed.
D. Branch Isolation at Outdoor Units, HP-1 and HP-2: HP-1 and HP-2 shall each be
provided with refrigerant shutoff valve kits serving the connected indoor unit branches.
Upon detection of a refrigerant leak on a branch associated with HP-1 or HP-2, the
following sequence shall occur:
1. The shutoff valve kit shall automatically close to stop refrigerant flow to the indoor
units on the affected branch.
2. The affected branch shall be isolated from the remainder of the refrigerant system.
3. The associated indoor units on that branch shall be disabled from further operation
until the leak condition has been addressed and the system has been reset.
4. Any unaffected branches or connected units shall continue to operate only if
permitted by the manufacturer's control and safety sequence.
E. Alarm and Reset:
1. A refrigerant leak alarm shall be generated upon sensor detection.
2. Alarm status shall be annunciated locally and through the Building Automation
System (BAS).
3. System reset shall not occur until the refrigerant leak condition has cleared and
any required service intervention has been completed.
4. Final operation, shutdown, pump-down, branch isolation, alarm handling, and reset
behavior shall be in accordance with the equipment manufacturer's listed A2L
safety sequence and installation requirements." (Per Internal Review)

Shunt trip breakers are only required for kitchen equipment/receptacle circuits under the exhaust hood that are required to shut down upon activation of the hood fire-suppression system.
