NACHC Health Center Executive
Mentor and Advisor Application
The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) is seeking experienced
health center executives to serve as mentors and executive advisors for NACHC's
Leadership Exchange programs.
About the NACHC Leadership Exchange
NACHC Leadership Exchanges (NLEs) are six-month, cohort-based professional
development programs designed to strengthen the leadership and technical skills of health
center executives. NACHC is currently seeking mentors and executive advisors for the
following NLEs:
* Chief Financial Officer,
* Chief Medical Officer.
Mentor Activities:
Mentors are assigned a group of 6-10 participants to discuss current challenges, answer
questions, and help participants plan a real-world capstone project. Mentors serve as
trusted advisors, providing guidance, support, and encouragement to help their peers grow
in their career and leadership journey. Duties include:
* Participate in a one-hour mentor orientation virtually.
* Travel to attend two in-person program events (three total days of programming).
* Lead 6 monthly, 1.5-hour virtual meetings with a group of 6-10 participants to
answer questions, focus on relevant content (including core competencies), and
help participants plan their capstone project.
* Communicate with participants on message boards or email on an ad hoc basis.
* Participate in a final debriefing call and provide input on their overall experience and
recommendations for future program enhancements.
Mentors can also expect to receive an evaluation of their performance in the role and the
program overall.
Estimated Time Commitment:
The estimated commitment is approximately 35 hours over six months, plus any travel
time. The tentative schedule for NLEs is below (timing is subject to change):
* NLE Chief Financial Officer: January 2027- July 2027
* NLE Chief Medical Officer: May 2027-November 2027
Executive Advisor:
Additionally, NACHC is seeking an executive advisor for each NLE. The advisor will help
ensure that the program learning content is relevant and taught at the executive level.
Executive advisors may also be utilized for other NACHC training and technical assistance
programs requiring executive "in role" experience.
Executive Advisor Activities:
Executive Advisors will:
* Advise NACHC NLE program staff on relevant topics for technical learning content
rooted in relevant core competencies, relevant evidence-based literature, and their
own executive experience.
* Review drafted learning objectives for technical sessions.
* Review learning content created by curriculum writers.
* Attend and participate in planning meetings with NACHC staff and other
stakeholders as necessary.
* Participate in final debriefing call and provide input on their overall experience and
recommendations for future program enhancements.
Advisors can also expect to receive evaluation results of the program.
Time Commitment:
The estimated commitment for Executive Advisors is approximately 40 hours over 10
months of program development for the NLE. Estimates will vary for other programs.
Compensation:
NACHC will provide a professional services fee and reimburse travel in alignment with its
policies.
Eligibility Requirements:
* Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the role associated
with their application at a health center (FQHC or Look-Alike). Over 5 years will be
given preference.
If not currently in the role associated with their application at a health center,
o
it has been no more than 3 years since the applicant served at a health
center in said role.
* Applicants must have the support of their current or most recent health center
supervisor. NACHC will conduct a reference check with the individual(s) provided as
part of the application.
Applicants Will Be Assessed on the Following:
In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements above, applicants will be assessed on the
following:
* Demonstrated thoughtfulness in approach to mentorship.
* Demonstrated success in the executive role.
* The health center's performance as reflected by key Uniform Data System
measures.
