Sealed bids will be received by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, Division of Soil Conservation and Water Quality, 502 East 9th Street, Des Moines, Iowa, 50319, until 3:00 p.m. local time, on the 1st day of November 2024 and opened at a public meeting and read aloud on the date last mentioned.

A pre-bid conference will be held on October 29, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., ISU Extension Office, 210 North Iowa Street, Knoxville, Iowa, 50318, telephone: (641) 842-2014. Attendance at the pre-bid conference by prospective bidders is mandatory.

This project is the repair, treatment and re-seeding of selected portions of the Waechter AML site in Marion County, Iowa. The site is located approximately ¼ mile north of Oklahoma Drive and ¼ mile west of Highway T17. In general, the work includes but is not limited to minor grading to close eroded gulleys, repair of riprap structures, application and incorporation of agricultural lime, hydraulic mulching, and permanent seeding.

Approximate bid quantities include but are not limited to: 3,930 lineal feet of channel repair, 963 ton ECCE of ag lime,15.8 acres of conventional mulching, 4.7 acres of MBFM hydraulic mulching, and 11.8 acres of low diversity native mix seeding, and 4 acres of high diversity native mix seeding. A complete list of bid items is provided with the plans. The anticipated cost of construction to perform the repairs is expected to range from $185,000 to $220,000.

The Plans and Construction Specifications governing the construction of the proposed improvements have been prepared by IDALS DSCWQ, Mines and Minerals Bureau and are hereby made a part of this notice by reference and the proposed Contract shall be executed in compliance therewith. This project shall comply with Davis-Bacon Wage Requirements. COPIES OF THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS, INCLUDING PLANS, CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS, AND BID PACKAGE, ARE ONLY AVAILABLE THROUGH THE WEBSITE LINK - Requests for Bids and Proposals | Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (iowaagriculture.gov). In order to be included on the plan holders list, which is required to receive meeting minutes, addenda and an updated plan holders list, interested bidders must make a written or verbal request to Mary J. In order to be considered in a final addendum, written questions must be received no later than October 30, 2024.
