Description:

As a Certified Local Government (CLG), the City of Williamsburg is partnering with the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Historic Resources (DHR) to undertake a series of tasks in an effort to better educate property owners and encourage citizens to champion historic preservation opportunities. This contract work will include the development of varied platforms to help educate and highlight the importance in keeping historic preservation in the forefront when undertaking changes and alternations to structures within applicable districts.
Scope of Work
The contractor will work under the direction of the Director of Planning and Codes Compliance and Planning Staff, as designated, as well as the Architectural Review Board. Designated tasks include the following:
-
The contractor will create a fully hosted online platform or mobile application that provides property owners with personalized guidance, such as enter your address; then point and click to a particular architectural feature on a residence for specific recommended guidelines and/or materials that are allowable.
-
Out of the four (4) architectural preservation districts, the contractor will review existing guidelines and develop a quick chart for each preservation district outlining do’s and don’ts with regard to the Guidelines.
-
Within three (3) months commencement of this project, the contractor will be responsible for providing an interim update and draft deliverables. The City shall have the ability to review such deliverable(s) to ensure the task is on track. The City may make comments and/or edits to be undertaken within ten (10) business days of receiving such deliverable(s).
-
The contractor will provide limited training to city staff on how to use the online platform so that future community meetings may be scheduled to introduce the new applications and instruction on how to use the online platform or mobile application.
