2. TECHNIICAL REQUIREMENTS / SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS: The contractor will provide an automated nucleic acid extraction system capable of producing high quality DNA and RNA from a variety of specimen types.
a) The instrument will be fully automated while producing high yields of nucleic acid from formalin-fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue specimens.
b) The system must demonstrate proven superiority to other extraction methods by producing large, intact nucleic acid fragments and high molecular tag coverage when applied to targeted capture based next generation sequencing panels.
c) High throughput system that can process multiple specimens in a short duration of time.
d) Open and flexible system allowing use of any magnetic particle-based kit to meet the application demands.
e) Protocols already loaded into the system for extraction of a variety of specimens included but not limited to (FFPE) tissues, blood, buccal swaps, saliva, and bone marrow.
f) Depth, height and weight not to exceed any limitation that would exceed placement and operation on standard laboratory benchtop.
g) Consumable supplies to operate the purchased instrument for up to 500 nucleic acid extractions
3. DELIVERY OF SUPPLIES AND INSTALLATION:
a) Delivery of supplies: All items purchased in the contract shall be delivered to Orlando VA Medical Center, 13800 Veterans Way, Orlando FL 32827.
b) Alert/Notification of delays in shipments as well as all technical advisory/recalls/alerts, prior to or simultaneously with field alerts shall be forwarded to the director of molecular diagnostics, lab chief, and the assigned VISN 8 contracting officer.
c) Special handling for emergency orders of supplies: In the event that the consumables are found to be defective and unsuitable for use with the contractor s equipment, or the contractor has failed to comply with the requirements for routing supply delivery, the contractor is required to deliver the consumable supplies within 24 hours of receipt of a verbal order for priority deliver. If either circumstance has occurred, the contractor will deliver to the government site in the most expeditious manner possible without additional cost to the government.
d) Installation: The Contractor shall install the equipment and demonstrate full functionality of the equipment. The Contractor shall include all ancillary components that are customarily sold or provided with the model of equipment proposed, i.e., plates.
