9/15/2026: Question 1. - The existing building only has (1) valve to turn off the water in the mechanical room. Unfortunately, this will shut down the entire building. Would the USCG consider adding isolation valves to the base bid for the bathroom areas to limit the amount of time the building would be without water?
Answer - Yes, the government would like to have isolation valves added.
Question 2. - If it is considered, how many valves would be added? For all bidders to bid the same way.
Answer - At least 1 per head, that would be 7 total
Question 3. - As per 2.2.3 of the SOW: Install new “Proflo” or equivalent fiberglass shower pans. Shower wall assemblies shall be installed using cementitious backer board and a liquid-applied waterproofing membrane installed. Will the shower walls be tiling walls from the shower pan up, or install a new wall surround to match the new shower pan?
Answer - Install new wall surround to match the new shower pans.
Question 4. - Will the USCG provide us with a staging area for a dumpster and any equipment storage?
Answer - Yes, we have an area where they can park a dumpster, and we have a place for them to stage equiopment.
Question 5. - The existing ADA shower pan is leaking in the Men’s locker room. Is it part of this SOW to investigate and repair any damaged piping or can an allowance for repairs be added to the base bid?
Answer - Yes, it would be par of the SOW. FYI, if it's not leaking from a pipe, it was leaking from the shower pan drain. Bottom side of the drain fixture under the pan is still attached to the pipe so they would have to remove that and install a new drain fixture.
Question 6. - Above the ceiling in 2nd floor men’s locker room, there is a possible leak, please advise that this is NOT part of the base bid or will the responsibility of the general contractor?
Answer - No, this would not be part of the bid.
9/11/2026: Question - At the walk thru it was stated that we are replacing the shower stall same as existing. That is a shower base and fiberglass fabricated walls. Patch in tile around shower as required. The scope of work I interpret as installing new base pan and installing subway ceramic tile on the shower walls from floor to ceiling. Please clarify what is to be provided.
Answer: We want the entire shower replaced including pan and wall. We understand some of the tiles will need to be replaced, so we ask to either replace with direct copy of what is already there or recommend an accent border.
Question - So, the walls and base will be fiberglass to match existing and patch ceramic around the stall. The base and walls are a prefabricated unit that comes in 3 or 4 pieces as a kit. Is that correct? Answer - Yes
