CITY OF LAKEWAY
ITB No. 26-1004
Intersection Improvements - Highlands Blvd at Tavish Trail and Bee Creek Road
Pre-Bid Questions
Questions and Answer
April 17, 2026
Question No. 1 - There are utility boxes on both sides - including water lines and
communication boxes, will there be utility reroutes?
Answer: Per item 2 in the construction sequencing notes of the civil improvement plans,
the contractor is to meet with the utility representatives to coordinate the locations of
underground lines. The surveyor is currently capturing the 811 information, and an updated
survey will be provided along with direction from the engineer.
Question No. 2 - What are the traffic control requirements on the approaches with
narrower widths?
Answer: The roundabout segments on Bee Creek Rd and Baldovino Skyway can be
temporarily closed during the construction of the crosswalks and flumes at their specific
crossings as approved by the City. The approaches on Highlands Blvd offer enough space
to close off one lane at a time while the crosswalks are being constructed.
Question No. 3 - Entry access
Answer: Bidders may contact Travis County to coordinate access through the gated road
on the Bee Creek side. Staging and parking may be accommodated on the southwest
corner of the RH Lakeway property. Final details will be confirmed upon award.
Question No. 4 - What is the timeline for delivery if the procurement of the light poles
takes 16-20 weeks?
Answer: Per the contract, work shall be substantially completed within ninety calendar
days after the start date specified in the notice to proceed. The city has expressed that if
there is a period of downtime that is incurred because of the procurement of the signal

poles, the timeline can be paused until the equipment has been delivered. Crosswalk work
not related to signal pole installation can be started as soon as a notice to proceed has
been issued. The schedule related to the light poles will be adjusted to reflect the
procurement schedule.
Question No. 5 - Are there staging areas available for construction equipment?
Answer: There are open areas at each of the site locations that can be used as a staging
area and overnight equipment storage. The city will coordinate equipment storage
locations once construction activities have commenced. Any additional storage required is
to be approved by the city.
Question No. 6 - Is there an opportunity for the phasing of work?
Answer: The city has expressed that they are open to a phased construction schedule in
the event that the signal poles take an extended period to be procured. All improvements
not relating to the signal poles can be conducted first, and a second phase to install the
signal poles can be started once they have been delivered.
Question No. 7 - Is the Geotechnical Engineer Report available?
Answer: There is no Geotechnical Engineering Report for this project.
Question No. 8 - Hours of work
Answer: Per General Conditions, Page 5, Section 1.50 (Working Hours)
Question No. 9 - Stormwater conveyance in the flumes
Answer: The proposed flumes will not connect to any stormwater systems. Their purpose is
to offer a pass-through for the storm water flowing along the curb gutters to prevent
ponding.
