The Solano County Sheriff-Coroner is soliciting bids from qualified firms, companies and organizations interested in providing Burial and Cremation Services for Veteran and Non-Veteran Indigent Cases.
The Solano County Sheriff-Coroner operates its own central morgue facility, located at 520 Clay Street, Fairfield, California. Solano County is located approximately 50 miles north of San Francisco and approximately 50 miles south of Sacramento. The County is home to approximately 450,000 residents and encompasses over 898 square miles. The Sheriff-Coroner is required to bury indigent decedents as specified in Government Code Sections 27460, 27461, 27462 and Health and Safety Code Sections 7104, 7105 and 7108, and Veterans indigent burial as specified in Military and Veterans Code Sections 929 through 949 and 960. Solano County provided disposition service for 63 indigent cases in 2023, 57 cases in 2022 and 55 cases in 2021. Each of these cases was determined to be indigent and under the responsibility of the Sheriff-Coroner.
